I was also in the same position. I can understand exactly what you mean. Girls don't affect me at all, even really hot ones, until I like them and then I get really shy around them and nervous for no reason. And I am also "big time" around Indian girls, so I think we all understand each other here.
I've given the silent treatment to some girls, and stayed friends with some girls. Looking back, here's what happened:
-The girls I gave the silent treatment to
It really sucked cause I wanted so bad to see them and I still do but at the same time you really don't want to see them also and so you are really ****ed up psychologically. It really messes me up, and also once you've made this decision you have to stick with it forever, cause even if you wanted to change your mind it would be wierd if u did.
-The girls I (tried to) stay friends with
One I stayed friends with and we are really close friends now and we have a lot of fun, and I don't like her anymore. The other one, well, she got freaked out by me cause she thought I was stalking her and so she stopped talking to me.

So, all in all, much better to stay friends with her, even if it tears your gut out, because not talking to her isn't going to make you forget about her like I thought it would do. If you like her that much, you will keep thinking about her until you meet someone else or you never see her again. Just be careful to not be manipulated by her, as girls can tell who likes them.

In fact, that girl probably knows exactly what's wrong with your situation. She is just playing dumb cause she wants to be your friend.
